Sigal Mandelker Provides Keynote at 2019 Days of Remembrance Ceremony

Posted by Enough Team on April 30, 2019

At the 2019 Days of Remembrance Ceremony, which was established by the U.S. Congress as the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust, Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Sigal Mandelker provided the keynote address sharing her personal story and highlighting the role of the Treasury Department and its financial tools of pressure in combating mass atrocities throughout history. Under Secretary Mandelker is the senior-most U.S. official responsible for the use of the “United States’ economic authorities, including sanctions, against a wide range of national security and illicit finance threats.” In Mandelker’s moving speech, she highlighted her work “to keep funding from the dictators and despots who use violence to retain power and wealth while supporting those who suffer tremendously at the hands of destructive leaders.”

She then told the incredible and heart wrenching story of her own family. Mandelker’s parents are both survivors of the Holocaust.
