The Conflict Minerals Trade Act, or H.R. 4128, continues to pick up steam in the new year as another seven representatives (see list below) recently signed on.
Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA)
Rep. Michael M. Honda (D-CA)
Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY)
Rep. Henry C. “Hank” Johnson Jr. (D-GA)
Rep. Dennis Moore (D-KS)
Rep. Fortney “Pete” Stark (D-CA)
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY)
Introduced by Congressmen Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Frank Wolf (R-VA), H.R. 4128 would help develop the means to ensure that U.S. companies stop importing conflict minerals from eastern Congo that finance the world’s deadliest conflict since World War II.
For activists, this bill offers a unique opportunity to help take away the fuel that drives the conflict in eastern Congo.
