UK Banking Roundtable
May 28, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Event Navigation
The Sentry organizes closed-door, banking roundtables in New York and London with financial institutions that have lines of business or other exposure to the financial systems of East and Central Africa. The roundtables are opportunities for The Sentry to share information discreetly and provide insight based on their investigations into the kind of illicit activity banks should monitor and screen for in these regions. The roundtables are typically joined by AML and sanctions compliance staff from several major U.S. and European banks.
On May 28th, The Sentry will be hosting one of these Banking Roundtables in London. The Sentry’s Director of Policy and Analysis, Joshua White, will begin the meeting by discussing the important role of banks in the fight against corruption in East and Central Africa, including how illicit financial flows from these regions to institutions in the British financial system and throughout Europe can be combated through sanctions compliance and AML efforts. The Sentry will be presenting its investigative findings and sharing information related to its publications on the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.
