Two days ago, Darfur Dream Team Program Assistant Meghan Higginbotham began her journey to eastern Chad to visit Djabal and Goz Amer refugee camps for the first time. Before she left, we recorded a video of Meghan sharing about her connection to the Darfuri refugees living in eastern Chad through the Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools Program and the plans for her trip this Thanksgiving. Watch the video:
Throughout the trip, Meghan will be listening to the stories and aspirations of Darfuri refugee students and teachers and sharing what she hears on the Darfur Dream Team Facebook page and Enough Said blog. She noted that the “The reality for the Darfuri refugees is that these camps will continue to be their makeshift homes until its safe for them to return to Darfur.” Until that is possible, DDT will continue to support primary education in the refugee camps and build connections between Darfuri and American students.
So while you are giving thanks this holiday, take a few minutes to watch Meghan’s video and follow her travels. And please share it with your friends and family!
