“These people are smiling and dancing. Where is this happy place filled with joy and dancing?” inquired comedian-pundit Jon Stewart. “I’m being told it’s the Sudan.”
“Holy shit,” Stewart said, after a half-second pause.
South Sudan’s independence vote was a segment on last night’s ‘Daily Show’ in which Stewart, along with sidekicks Aasif Mandvi and Samantha Bee, managed to highlight the magnitude of the long-awaited exercise while making all of us here at the Enough Project laugh out loud.
Enough Co-founder John Prendergast and actor George Clooney were, naturally, a feature of one of Stewart’s quips.
Just one thing—we’re not an election monitoring group—but that’s just more reason to invite the Enough Project back on the show for an actual interview.
