On November 14th, 2016, the world lost groundbreaking journalist Gwen Ifill, longtime PBS news anchor and co-host of "PBS NewsHour."
Dedicated to journalism from a young age, Ifill began her career as an intern for the Boston Herald. She went on to cover politics and the White House for the Washington Post, New York Times, and NBC. In 1999, when she started as moderator for PBS' "Washington Week", Ifill became the first African-American woman to host a major political TV talk show.
Enough Project Founding Director John Prendergast,who Ifill interviewed for “NewsHour,” stated:
"Gwen was an extraordinary journalist with acute perception and deep conscientiousness. Her departure leaves a gaping hole in her profession and in the lives of her many friends. I feel lucky and honored to have known her."
