Richard Parkins, a former Director of Episcopal Migration Ministries who became a leading advocate for outreach to Sudan and South Sudan as head of the American Friends of the Episcopal Church of Sudan, died at age 83 on September 1st.
Ian Schwab, Director of Advocacy and Impact Strategy at The Enough Project, says, “We have lost a great advocate and a great person. Richard would always seek to find ways to help and support his colleagues and cared deeply about his work as an advocate for peace in Sudan and South Sudan. I am privileged to have known and worked with Richard over the past decade and hope his legacy can be a role model for others seeking to build a more just and peaceful world.”
Brian Adeba, Deputy Director of Policy at The Enough Project, says, “Richard Parkins was a true advocate for the Sudans. We connected right away when we met three years ago based on our connections to the Episcopal Church of Sudan and South Sudan. I am deeply saddened by his passing. May his soul rest in peace.”
