In a moving narrated slideshow, photographer Brendan Bannon discusses a visit to southern Sudan, near the Congolese border, a area frequently terrorized by the Lord’s Resistance Army, a ruthless rebel force originally from northern Uganda whose tactics include abduction, forced conscription of child soldiers, and sex slavery. Bannon documented the work of Doctors Without Borders, one of few organizations in the area providing assistance to Congolese refugees and Sudanese displaced and traumatized by LRA attacks.
Bannon’s narrated piece originally appeared in the UK’s Daily Telegraph.
