Enough Project Lauds Gayle Smith’s Nomination as USAID Administrator

Today, U.S. President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate Gayle Smith as Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Gayle Smith co-founded the Enough Project with John Prendergast and currently serves as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Development and Democracy on the National Security Council staff. The Enough Project commends the Obama administration for this decision.

"Gayle Smith has spent her entire professional life doing work that perfectly prepares her to lead USAID. She has real field experience in war zones, she has designed and implemented development projects, she has supported peace initiatives, she has made humanitarian aid operations more effective, and she has supported private sector and non-governmental engagement in USAID's mission.  It would be hard to create a profile of someone better equipped to run USAID than Gayle.

-John Prendergast, Enough Project Founding Director
