Appearing on CNN International’s Inside Africa, Enough’s John Prendergast provided a useful overview of the challenges Sudan and the international community face in confronting the ongoing genocide in Darfur, where the government manipulatively “turns the aid tap on and off.” In particular, he addressed some of the main controversies that have sprung up regarding how to respond to the situation in Darfur, namely the debate over whether the violence should still be characterized as genocide, the importance of the ICC arrest warrant for the Sudanese president, and the ineffectiveness of the U.N. peacekeeping force in Darfur.
