In a joint letter, the Enough Project and four other leading human rights organizations have issued a call to tackle abuses, conflict, and lack of transparency in diamond supply chains. Click here to see the full letter.
The letter emphasizes the need for the diamond industry as a whole – from mining to retail – to move toward responsible sourcing practices clearly and demonstrably aligned with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, as well as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The letter also urges the industry to enable artisanal mining communities to work towards the achievement of sustainable development.
