Calling all Comment-ers

Calling all Comment-ers

…within reason, of course. We’ve been getting feedback from readers who say our way of moderating comments has inhibited  more lively debate on Enough Said. So, we’ve devised a new way of accepting your comments to specific posts, and we hope this method will be more conducive to dialogue.

Here’s how our new system works: when you click on the Comment button at the bottom of a post, you’ll be asked to provide your name and email address along with your comment. We won’t publish your email address, but we’ll use it to confirm you are a real person and to contact you regarding the comment if necessary. Rather than having to wait for us to review, your comment will appear right away.

Of course, this plan will work best if readers keep comments respectful and on-point. Before you comment we ask you to become familiar with our blog community rules which are part of our Terms of Use. Since the topics we discuss are often sensitive, we reserve the right to remove any comments which violate these basic parameters. We intend to set a relatively high bar for civility on this. We recognize that the issues on which we work — genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity — are incredibly sensitive and often very emotional. You may disagree with us, our approach, or your fellow commenters, but we ask you to do so thoughtfully, respectfully and without maligning the motives of those with whom you might disagree.

Thank you! We’re excited to hear more from you.

PS: And please don’t spam us. We will take away your commenting privileges in a snap.
