Game Changer: Dismantling Systems that Finance and Facilitate Genocide and Mass Atrocities

October 13, 2016

Omer Ismail will discuss the work of The Sentry, an initiative founded in conjuction with the Enough Project to fight the facilitation of genocide and mass atrocities in the African continent through the use of legitimate networks of international finance and trade. The Sentry recognizes that responsibility for mass atrocities extends from the armed combatants in conflict zones into global economic centers halfway around the world.

Omer Ismail has spent over 30 years working with international organizations on relief efforts and human rights. He co-founded the Darfur Peace and Development Organization to raise awareness about the crisis in his home region. He currently works as Policy Advisor to several agencies working in crisis management and conflict resolution in Africa, including the Enough Project.
