Omer Ismail to Speak at the Darfur Women Action Group’s National Symposium on Women & Genocide in the 21st Century: The Case for Darfur

October 25, 2014 - October 27, 2014

The weekend of October 25th and 26th, 2014, Omer Ismail will be speaking alongside anti-genocide activists as part of the 3rd Annual National Symposium on Women & Genocide in the 21st Century. Join the Enough Project, Darfur Interfaith Network, Impact Hub DC, The Human Rights & Global Justice Working Group at GMU, United to End Genocide for Genocide Watch and Darfur Women Action Group's great event.

By addressing genocide and its impact on women, the symposium seeks to define challenges and develop strategies for ending violence against women and the use of rape as a weapon of war. The goal is to empower activists and affected communities, set strategies for meaningful inclusion and justice for victims, and influence effective policy reforms that will bring a sustainable end to genocide in the 21st century.

Hundreds of anti-genocide activists, women’s rights advocates, artists, celebrities, survivors, experts, and concerned leaders will come together to build strategies for sustainable change for Sudanese people. The following Monday, October 27th, will be an optional lobby day on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. State Department for any participants who would like to join.
