Human Rights in Sudan: The Way Forward

November 19, 2009 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) and the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) on Thursday, November 19th from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Hudson Institute for a discussion of the Obama administration’s new strategy of engagement in Khartoum. With ongoing violence in Darfur, will engaging with the Sudanese government of President Omar al-Bashir give the administration the leverage it needs to promote freedom and stability and lessen the humanitarian crisis?

Featured guests Colin Thomas-Jensen from the Enough Project and Richard Just of The New Republic will discuss the role of diplomacy, the implications for human rights in Sudan, and other emerging questions. FPI’s Abe Greenwald will moderate.

Beer and wine will be served at 6:00pm. The discussion begins at 6:30pm. The Hudson Institute is located at 1015 Fifteenth Street NW, Washington, D.C..

Please RSVP to Rachel Hoff at [email protected].
