USIP Roundtable on Chad, Uganda and their roles in the region

September 11, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Deputy Policy Director Sasha Lezhnev will join a panel alongside Johnny Carson and others to discuss Uganda’s and Chad’s role in the Great Lakes region. He will speak on Uganda-DRC and Uganda-CAR relations.

The event will include two short panels. First, we will hear from Nicholas Opiyo (Executive Director, Chapter Four Uganda) and Jerome Tubiana (independent researcher) on the foreign policy and recent domestic developments in Uganda and Chad.

Our second group of panelists will examine the impacts of Uganda’s and Chad’s foreign policies on the region and the extent to which domestic developments in these countries are indicative of patterns in the region more broadly. This panel will include Stephanie Wolters (Head of the Peace and Security Research Programme, Institute for Security Studies), Susan Stigant (Director of the Africa Program, USIP), Nicholas Opiyo (Executive Director, Chapter Four Uganda), Sasha Lezhnev (Deputy Director of Policy, Enough Project) and Aly Verjee (Visiting Expert, USIP).
