Interests in Religious Freedom Reforms in Sudan

June 28, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

In the midst of a new phase of bilateral negotiations between Sudan and the United States, which aim to prioritize human rights reforms, many human rights and religious freedom violations persist with little acknowledgment from the Government of Sudan that reform is needed. President Al Bashir’s government favors a specific Islamic ideology and violently and systematically closes space for any individuals and groups that appear to challenge either the religious or political interests of the government. USCIRF and the Enough Project are hosting a roundtable to discuss U.S. interests in and approaches to pushing for further religious freedom reforms during this important period.
