Financial Strategist

Position: Financial Strategist

Reports to: Founding Director
 
Position Summary
 
Under the direction of the Founding Director and in collaboration with Enough’s operations team and members of the senior leadership team, the Financial Strategist supports the overall management of the Enough Project’s financial health and administrative functionality. This position will create, monitor and implement financial infrastructure and business systems needed to support long term mission and growth, from administrative process management to budget creation, oversight, and analysis. The Finance Strategist will support Enough’s senior leadership team and collaborate with Enough’s fiscal sponsor in strategic decision making and operations as the Enough Project continues to build capacity.
 
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
 
Finance
 
  • Develop and monitor organizational budget based on assessment of program needs and input from senior leadership team
  • Establish a system/standard for aggregation, analysis, and presentation of financial data reported by fiscal sponsor
  • Clearly communicate regular financial statements in coordination with senior staff and fiscal sponsor accounting teams; with Development Director, prepare monthly forecast that to track Enough’s financial position as well as to project revenue
  • Support and acculturate internal controls and due diligence
  • Design and improve operations and finance business processes with support from the Operations Manager
  • Collaborate with Founding Director, Development Director and fiscal sponsor to support the development of proposal budgets and provision of grant reports
  • Strengthen internal record-keeping systems to track progress toward defined objectives and communicate organizational effectiveness to internal stakeholders
  • Work with the team to evaluate the cause of budget variances and take steps to correct or reassess budget as necessary
  • Support future finance and operations resource planning, including helping to plan for future systems, capacity and staffing

 

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Bachelor’s degree; Bachelor’s in accounting or finance, CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit core-function roles; ideally 3+ years of financial operations experience and demonstrated commitment to serve mission objectives through core-function service and organization development
  • Experience building and monitoring a complex organizational budget
  • Experience of final responsibility for quality and content of all financial data and reporting for a significant program area
  • Ability to translate financial concepts to (and collaborate with) programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have fundraising backgrounds
  • Adept team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to monitor and prioritize organizational agendas, multitask, and effectively communicate reasons for priority decisions when competing team interests are at play
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans and implement them successfully
  • Excellent project-tracking and relationship-management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
