Attention Delaware: Senator Coons to Convene Opportunity Africa Conference

Next Monday, February 11, Senator Chris Coons (D-DE), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs and outspoken advocate for Africa, will convene his 2^nd annual “Opportunity: Africa Conference” at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. The conference will explore how businesses, faith groups, and other civil society organizations in Delaware and across the country can engage in Africa through business and volunteerism while being mindful of the myriad of challenges— from human rights to health issues—facing the continent.

Elkanah Odembo, Kenyan ambassador to the United States, and Michael Gerson, Washington Post columnist and policy fellow with the ONE Campaign, will be the keynote speakers for the conference. Attendees can choose from a variety of workshops to attend, such as “Child Health, Safety, and Survival” and “Security, Hunger, and Meeting Needs Across Africa.”
